Time to Change the old oil …

On Monday, Jan. 24th, I’ll be 75 years old — or (as I like to think of it as) the 57th anniversary of my 18th birthday. Ah youth … Where are you now that I need you?

I’ve two doctors’ appointments Monday because … how else would you want to celebrate such a significant milestone?

Anyway, as I’ve done in recent years, I’m asking friends & family not to buy me anything (not even a B-card) but rather donate something to a worthy cause — like the Wounded Warriors Project. Here’s the link:

https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org

Why give away gifts before you even get them?

Because they need stuff. I don’t. … I’ve a lovely wife, great kids, even better grandkids, and a great-granddaughter up North who I rarely get to see but often think about.

“Life is short,” people used to tell me, and I’d think, “Yeah, right.”

I was wrong. Life is short … then you die.

But when I die, I’m gonna be with Jesus. “Hallelujah!” Thank God for that.

See you later, Alligator . . . if not here on Earth, then up there in Heaven.

Blessings to you and yours,

Your fellow writing friend,

Jim

PS: I’m not gonna light up 75 candles on my birthday cake. Why? I’m afraid they’ll set off the smoke detectors.
