“Popcorn” sold
Untaxed likker.
Made it fast,
Sold it quicker.

Loathed by some;
Loved by others.
Kissed by sisters;
Kicked by brothers.

No Huntin’ — No Fishin’ — No Timber-Cuttin’
Why not say: No tender muffins!
Whatta way to punish corn.
Might as well he’d n’r been born.

Bones & skin.
Plaid & denim.
Chased white whiskey,
Nev’r wimmim.

Chose Fedora
As his hat.
Grew-a beard
Like Brillo pads.

No Huntin’ — No Fishin’ — No Timber-Cuttin’
Why not say: No tenda lovin’
Seems a shame to smash a still,
Wastin’ hooch in a Fire Drill.

Pop poked gov-mint
Re-ve-no-ors,
2-bit sheriffs,
Hayseed chewers.

Wasn’t no hero;
W’n’t no saint.
W’n’t no “Star!”
Was-n’t quaint.

No Huntin’ — No Fishin’ — No Timber-Cuttin’
Why not say: “No tender muffins!”
Whatta way to punish corn.
Might-a wished he’d n’r been born.

Night before
He went to jail,
Said, “I’d rather
Be in hell!”

Went to sleep
In his ol’ Ford;
Didn’t get up
In the dewy morn.

No Huntin’ — No Fishin’ — No Timber-Cuttin’
Why not say: “No tender muffins!”
Whatta way to punish corn.
Might as well he’d n’r been born.
