Just another Day in the Life of an America Couple
East Liverpool, once the epi-center of the American pottery industry, is known in some circles as “America’s Crockery City” — though it wears the crown “Pottery Capitol of the Nation” with equal ease.
No more.
The Ohio community of 13,000 — about an hour west of Pittsburgh and two hours southeast of Cleveland — will, in future folklore, be the place where two druggies passed out with a kid in the car.
That description is bad enough — the image, worse.
Why?
Because it’s so ordinary. Were it a scene in a big-budget movie (or a TV show like CSI) lighting might be better; poses, more theatrical; context, dramatic.
But no.
The photograph looks like what it is: competent snapshot of two OD’d adults; boy in backseat.
“Click.”
That’s it . . .
If you’re interested in details, here’s the NewsNet5.com story as well as the Facebook post that triggered the story, which included this quote:
“We feel we need to be a voice for the children caught up in this horrible mess. This child can’t speak for himself but we are hopeful his story can convince another user to think twice about injecting this poison while having a child in their custody.”
The outcome: James Accord, 47, the driver, and Rhonda Pasek, 50, his passenger, went to jail. The child, Pasek’s 4-year-old son, went to Children’s Services.
The moral of the story? I got nothin’ … If you can make sense of this thing, let me know.
I’m flummoxed.
