Gail,

Remember: Do plenty of interviews, and use at least one out-sourced “quote” per blog/article. That helps you cross-pollinate. Interview “names” in the industry. Ask a gentle flurry of questions … that way one phone call can produce multiple quotes for multiple articles.

To succeed with that, however, you’ll have to create a deep/broad list of ongoing topics (8–10 in the hopper at any given time) so that you can interview/quote into those projected articles.

To prepare for all this, I suggest you make yourself a nice cup of hot tea, sit down at your favorite table/desk and brainstorm for a half-hour or so. Start with seasonal ideas (summer, fall, winter, spring) then go to holidays (Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s Day) and special events (birthdays, anniversary, etc.).

Consider every aspect of seeds, especially cultural connections. Most of all, have fun — make it an adventure.
